California is undeniably the one of the most prolific and well-known states in the entire country, and not without good reasons. A great many of our country’s celebrities call The Golden State home, and of course Hollywood is one of the most widely known places in the world. In recent years, with technological advancements arriving at a more rapid pace, and with so many more people gaining access to technology, another part of California has gained widespread fame: Silicon Valley.

California’s Silicon Valley is widely regarded as the tech industry capital of the country, if not the world. Thousands of tech companies like Google, Facebook and Apple all call Silicon Valley home, but if Silicon Valley is famous for being the home of the tech industry, the tech industry is just as infamous for its misogynistic culture. The technology industry is notoriously stereotyped as being extremely cruel and unfair to women, and according to a recent survey, the reputation is not undeserved.

According to reports, many women who have years of experience working for tech giants such as Apple and Google were surveyed, and a high percentage claimed that they had suffered unwanted sexual advances at work. Nearly every single woman surveyed claimed that they had experienced sexist behavior. Of course, there are laws in place to protect women from such treatment, and the responsibilities of the employer are established by the law. But among those women reporting unwanted sexual advances, 60 percent were not satisfied with how the situation was handled.

The good news for victims of sexual harassment is that if your employer is not getting the job done, the courts probably will. Victims of sexual harassment in the workplace can pursue legal action in order to recover compensation for their suffering and ensure that justice is served.
